Yesterday we spent a couple of hours at the allotment digging up our potatoes – I can’t believe the amount and size of some of the potatoes we dug up.

So just from one row…

We dug up this overloaded basketful of gorgeous red skinned potatoes…

We were so shocked by the size of some of the potatoes we dug up, they are the size of Mr Rigg’s hand…

In total we’ve dug up three large hessian sack fulls, and are now compiling a list of potato recipes.  What are your favourite ways to eat potatoes?

We’ve also managed to grow some whopping pumpkins – at least I think they’re pumpkins, I can’t quite remember what I planted, so will have to go back through my seed packets and see which they might be!  We’ve placed straw under them and are hoping one will be good enough to enter into our local Produce Show.

The red kale seedlings we bought from Kenyon Hall Farm are doing really well and I’m planning to pick some leaves soon to go with our homegrown potatoes to make one of my favourite meals, a kind of hash with chorizo and a poached egg.
